About the Training

This training will focus on the most essential skills necessary to step into a classroom upon graduation and confidently guide a Vinyasa/Hatha practice based on strength and intelligent alignment. This program is also for students who only want to deepen their personal yoga practice, who are not teaching orientated.

 

The Foundation is a 23-day training program. We focus on small group but high quality training ,so everyone gets individual attention to grow in this transformational journey.

THE TEACHERS


 

Vivienne Zeng

Since 2014, she started her first YTT and teaching journey until now, she has travelled worldwide and accomplished 1,400 hours of TTC in different areas and over 5,000 hours of teaching experience. 

Since the end of 2019 she has been teaching and sharing her yoga knowledge in Bali. When Vivienne started yoga she was a business office lady, working in high level management.

Sheryl Sharaswhaty

Originally from Bogor in West Java, Indonesia, she grew up learning yoga from her Indian grandfather. As an Indian – Indonesian, she is very closely connected with both cultures and traditions.

Sheryl moved to Bali in 2012. Sheryl spent two years learning Iyengar yoga, and later completed several training including the One Song TT with Denise Payne & Bex Tyler, FlyHighYoga TT, Acro Yoga TT , Thai Massage training and Embodiment Yoga with Carlos Romero and Mandala Vinyasa Daniella Garza.

Menik Suyani

Menik officially enrolled in her first yoga class in January 2015 in order to seek balance between long working hours as a medical doctor in hospital and self-love practice. It turned out was a totally rewarding experience for her, not only in physical level but also gave her a sense of tranquillity when she surrendered in Savasana. Since then yoga has become an important part of her life. Not long after, she completed her 200hr Hatha Yoga Teacher Training through Sama Yoga School in April 2016. She also enrolled and gained another trainings and certifications with various teachers throughout her journey in yoga; Heart of Yoga, Radiant Passage and Fly High Yoga along with many other workshops.

Morning intensive class

The Morning Intensives are the daily asana practice (7–9am) daily, including asana, pranayama and meditation.

They are an integral part of the programme where techniques are learned, skills are sharpened and the fire of transformation is fuelled. The commitment to practising with the same group of yogis over an extended period of time has enormous power in it.

This part of the programme is open to students who desire a life-affirming shift, but are not participating in the full Teacher Training. Those registered in the Full Teacher Training have this included in the course.

The Syllabus


Asana

  • In-depth study of basic alignments for over 100 asanas. Beginner & intermediate poses
  • Learn safe positioning for beginner-level students
  • Key modifications for all standard poses for stiff, injured or beginner students
  • Key guidelines for keeping students safe whilst practising with you
  • Key understanding of balancing muscle engagement & active stretching
  • Learn how to create optimal opening of the body in every pose
  • Focal point Intelligence – discover which is the centre point for each asana and how to benefit from activating towards and from it to perform the full pose
  • Key descriptive language for effective teaching of asana
  • Benefits and potential risks of each asana
  • Adjustments – physical and verbal.

 

Yoga Props Usage

  • Study the proper use of a yoga belt, block, bolster and yoga mat
  • Learn quick use of props for flow classes
  • Learn more methodical use of props for slower study of asanas
  • Use props for injuries and to investigate poses from different approaches to go deeper.

 

Anatomy & Physiology

  • Introduction to yoga anatomy – organs and systems of the body, skeletal system, muscular system, and the biomechanical intelligence of the body
  • Study all the major joints – movements, restrictions, muscular system, physiology, postural muscles
  • Understand the muscular system – muscles for movement and alignment in asana.

 

Philosophy

  • Explore the history of yogic lineages
  • Understand the context of modern yoga
  • Familiarize yourself with tantra, karma, mantra and Brahman
  • Learn about Hindu and Buddhist beliefs and influences
  • The eight limbs of yoga from the yoga sūtra
  • The six branches of yoga mentioned in the Bhagavad-gītā

 

Yogic Practices

  • Esoteric Anatomy (the anatomical system of conscious energy within the body)
  • Chakras (energy centres)
  • Mudras (seal or locking energies)
  • Bandhas (energy locks)
  • Vayus (energies of the breath)
  • Nadis (system of passageways through our bodies where we transform and move the energy of the breath)

 

Pranayama

  • Study the basic techniques for breath awareness
  • Learn reclining pranayama for activating the ribs, then the lungs
  • Learn Ujjaii 1, Ujjaii 2, Viloma & Nadi Shodhana
  • Learn the benefits of deep relaxation

 

Meditation

  • Start a daily practice during the training with guided mindfulness meditation techniques
  • Daily journal exercises to contemplate the challenges and the rewards of meditation
  • Begin a self-practice of basic meditation
  • Learn the basics of teaching meditation

 

Teaching Methodology

  • Observe the structure of classroom dynamics
